Every year I write down all of my big goals and dreams for the year like many people do but every year I forget about them about a month in because life gets busy! So this year I decided to make a vision board.
The hope is, this little vision board will be my computer wallpaper and I will be able to see all my dreams all year round. Being reminded every time I open my computer that there is something I’m working toward this year!
Sooooo, step by step here’s how I did it!
Step 1: Write Down All my Goals for the Year
When I started this process, I sat down for a little while and wrote down every single goal I had for this year. Whether it be things I wanted to do, things I wanted to work on, or things that felt out of reach, I wrote them all down. I wanted to ensure that I included goals that felt a bit out of reach, because you never know what’s going to happen in life, and to me it’s good to have a goal that feels like a bit much because it’s something to strive for.
Step 2: Find Examples of Vision Boards
Being that I never made a vision board before, I needed to find some inspiration! I scrolled through Pinterest and TikTok to find examples of Vision Boards that I liked that gave me ideas for what I wanted mine to look like.
Example 1:

I really liked this vision board because I loved how the quotes that this person chose directly correlated with the pictures they were near both in aesthetic and what it says. This board was made by @itsemma.mitchell on Pinterest.
Example 2:

I love this board! The vibe it gives off is it exactly the kind of thing I was envisioning for my board. The color in the board mixed with a variety of pictures gives this board the exact energy I wanted for my computer background for all of 2023. You can find this board on @andreafrlss Pinterest!
Step 3: Make a Pinterest Board
After finding all my inspiration for what I wanted the board to look like, I took to pinterest to find pictures that corresponded with each goal I wrote down. I tried to stick to a similar color scheme for all my pictures to make a cohesive looking board that looked aesthetically pleasing. I added multiple different pictures for each goal to give myself options from what I wanted when I began to put the board together. You can find my pinterest board with all of my pictures here.
When putting together my pinterest board I also decided to add some quotes that I thought fit well for my vision board, the vibe I wanted for my year, and just generally quotes I identified with. This is something I saw examples of when looking for inspiration and I think it ended up really bringing together my board!
Step 4: Put it all together on Canva
I used Canva to put my vision board together because I find it to be the most user friendly for things of this nature. To do so I began by hitting “Create a Design” and picking “presentation”. The reason I picked “presentation” was simply because it would be the right size to fit as the background of my computer screen.
From there, I began to copy and paste all the pictures I wanted to use on my board from Pinterest to Canva. I started to paste the pictures in order of how important the goals were to me, therefore how big the pictures should be. The more important the goals were to me, I wanted to make those pictures a bit bigger.
As I was going through pasting the pictures, I tried to ensure all the layering looked good on top of each picture. I had to play around with picture sizes, layer, and locations until I got it exactly how I wanted it.
This is how it looked before I added quotes

After adding quotes this is how it looked:

I’m super excited about how my vision board turned out this year and I can’t wait to see if it helps me stay on track with my goals.
